stay away from valvoline, as i used to use it when i didnt have a clue. basicaly the oil gets VERY thin after a few 100 miles and you can hear everything going on it the engine, the engine gets very noisy. i used mobil 1 10w40 semi or best bet is quantam oil about £25 from dealers.

Ok great will go vw after work today. Is it best to get a vw oil filter aswell or will any filter be ok.
Also. Should I do engine flush stuff first or just change the oil?

Get a VW filter, its just as cheap as pattern stuff anyway.

DONT use engine flush, otherwise all the cr@p thats inside the oil channels etc inside your engine will make its way to the the important stuffl.

Change the oil regulary enough and you don't really need flushes anyway. Oil does a perfectly good job of cleaning the engine, what it was designed for after all as well as lube and cooling.

Agree.

When Valvoline is new it is brilliant but thins with any heat or abuse thrown at it.

It's bang on our spec for the Dragster but we change the oil after 3 runs anyway so don't really affect us.

Just paying for the name Len. Used to use magnetec, engine was a bit tappity. Now use synta and its much quieter.
