Bumper-gate

Dear All

To cut a long story short, I'm having a fight with VW at the moment about my imperfect bumper moulding. It's a lighter version of what Asker documented last year and having had a cyclist scuff my bumper by riding into me, VW are now saying that it's caused by an accident which given its location is as plausible as finding an honest politician.

The dealer has been exemplary in all of this and while backing my claim remains at the mercy of Volkswagen Technical Services. So, in response to their comment 'This was caused by an accident', I've produced evidence of my bumper that I originally supplied to Asker to support his claim. In response to the 'We've never seen this before' line, I quoted Asker's case number as there was a body of evidence attached to his submission but it seems they're incapable or unwilling to access closed cases. Presumably on the grounds that it strengthens my position so I've been asked to provide supplemental reference.

Could I ask you to please take some photos of your bumper at left and right, preferably at the same angle as my example below. Any distortion of the reflection in the recessed area where the plate is mounted is what I'm looking for.

I am indebted for any help. Can I ask that you PM me with links to the photos please or I can setup an FTP for you to upload to. I will Photoshop out number plates and will only submit these to VW, they will not be shown on the web without your express permission.

Many thanks

Alex

@Alex.
I wish you the best of luck. Once a case is closed there is no referring back to it, it would seem. I'll have a word with my Warranty Manager about the inner workings of VWCS and VW Technical.

VW drove me to distraction and destruction when I had this problem. It was a truly awful experience.  :angry:

Thanks Asker. Buying a Tiguan at the moment as well and I'm not putting the order in until this is resolved.
