Sounds lime a emission related fault, if your just getting a light and no power cut.  You need to find a forum member local to you who will be willing to plug into your car and check the codes.

cheers wil try and get the car in on saturday at my local indy vw specialist.....by the way rang vw they want 85 quid just to plug it in .....
