Golf gti mk4
« on: 26 July 2011, 21:22 »
Hi, was just woundering what power gains I'd be looking at if I got my car remaped, current spec is;
golf gti mk4 AUM 150, it has a neuspeed induction kick, forge d/v, full miltek turbo back with sports cat.
Thanks!
P.s is there much difference in the phase 1/2 map and could I go straight to phase two?

Stage 2 is all down to air flow and heat reduction, to get stage 2 power and to have it safe you will need to get rid if the biggest restriction which is the down pipe / cat.  The idea spec for stage 2 would be a good fmic, full turbo back exhaust system, cold air induction and a higher flow turbo intake pipe.  The ko3s will flow 240-245bhp, but that don't mean your going to get that power, the limiting factor is a the actuator a weak actuator will reduce to peak air flow and power, plus what I am also finding is cam lob ware limits the peak flow.    On average we tend to see around 222bhp-233bhp from stage2 custom ko3s aum, the ones that are making over 233bhp are running uprated forge actuators.

If I was you I would start with a good strong stage1 remap and then compliment it by adding performance hardware mods working towards stage2 power and mapping.

I hope this help

Nick

Thats absolutely great nick ;) thanks for the information! Think I'll start preparing my car with the fmic, tip and other things you've mentioned to try and get the best out of the car without going stupidly overboard!
