Rather odd spare key
« on: 26 July 2011, 14:59 »
I appear to have a spare key that unlocks and starts the car but only for a matter of seconds then it turns off. What's that about.

Thanks

There's not one there to be fecked   it's just a normal key with black plastic surround.  Straightforward to get one sorted?  Always useful to have a spare.

1996 onwards mk3 had a built in immob set up with a chip in the key, so you key that starts it for a few secs has not got a chip or it has lost its code.

You can test it by holding your original key near the barrel and using the spare key to start the car.
