i agree cs5 is better than LR but it is becoming a pain to get hold of

gimp is quite a big program so you will need a decent laptop (buy a desktop!)

lol yeah i was thinking about going out and buying a new pc just to edit my pics from my new £25.00 camera

ps is expensive

depends where you get it from

have you tried downloading the gimp from another machine / web site?

i will happily accept a cheap copy of ps

as for another comp i only have my lappy and my work pc? think i need to do some research lol the only photo editing i have done is in a dark room or in media class at school (probs ps1?)

i need to learn how to use my camera now and remember what all the settings do  :embarassed: its been a while! some of the buttons labels have rubbed off and it came without a manual so i'm having a bit of trouble lol.

is it?

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop

apparently the problem is getting a key and patching the hosts file

anything with an i5 or i7 chip and at least 4GB of RAM :afro: ideally you'll want an GPU that supports the acceleration in PS too

yeah i had trouble doing a host patch recently so dont have it at the moment

Remember, quality not quantity. I'd rather walk away from an hour shooting with one or two really cracking shots, than 50 not to so good shots.

thanks dude, i have not even had chance to get any decent snaps yet, i'm struggling with battery life!!

can anyone recomend some good AA's? put some duracels in the other night, litterally had a play with the settings and took a few test snaps in the house and now they are dead. Also had some rechargeables lying around from the little boys wii, charged them up to max and they will barely turn the camera on!!! the lense pops out then it goes dead!!!

i need cheap but long lasting or a good rechargable pack with lots of spares.

I use these in my flashes and other things that take AA batteries, would recommend them.

was in morrisons last night and glanced at the batteries, saw a charger with energizer batteris for 20 squid, "voted the best chargable batteries" blah blah blah.

anyway charged them up over night, they where full this morn and the mrs has just rung to tell me she put them in the camera and they had enough power to turn it on, look at a few pics then it just shut off again!??

have a bought crappy batteries or does it look like the camera is faulty?

what rating are the batteries?

they should have a charge rating on them like 1700mAh, 2700mAh, 3200mAh etc

Does the same happen with fresh non-rechargeable batteries?  these days a decent NiMH rechargeable will out last the standard counterparts.

2000 i think from memory.

the new duracel batteries lasted a few days with very little use.

sounds like it could be the camera, try it with fresh alkaline and see what happens.  You should be able to google for an average shutter count and see how that compares.
