In terms what though Doc the car or taken out the ECU ?

I don't want a removal of the ECU remap whilst it's still in warranty. I'm going to try Superchips and Revo and if they dont work then I might throw my toys out and get a new car

Thanks Steve, not that I know anything but I've never read anything anywhere that suggests an early 09 car has a locked ECU. I'm hoping that the issue is with the AlienTech module.  CarbonTech are not 100% it's locked and are going to update me tomorrow.

I could be wasting my time but I want to know for sure.  An R could be on the cards quicker than I'd first thought.....

Maybe Doc can confirm this but I don't think any GTI has had the ECU locked, AFAIK it was only the diesels.

Mine is BW7 2010 and it was fine and when I talked to Superchips at that time they had never encountered a GTI with an encrypted ECU.

If your not happy to have your car remapped for any reason then I'd rather not do it that's all, Jimmy clearly wants to be able to put his car back to standard at his leisure so that's all I'd sell him

Seems sneaky VW are also retro installing anti tuning protection on earlier cars with MED17 / EDC17.....
