So Doc, are you going to grace us with your presence in London?
Would be nice to abuse you in person.
Do come to London and do me a custom number if this is possible.

I'm aiming for late next week - 5th-6th of August as I've possibly got a meeting on the Friday AM so I'd stay Friday / Saturday.

Great. I am your man. August 6th would be perfect. If you wish you may use my work car park which is covered in case of rain. It's in Kings Cross, London WC1. For the 5th August, I'll have to sort things at work which could be PITA.

How nice

Why not make it a MK6 meetup?

More details on the handheld unit:

Carbon Chiptuning sells a customer held tuning unit called a Powergate Personal OBD programmer (think blufin), this unit has the ability to store 3 maps, first being the original map from your car, second being mod map 1 (i.e. Power map), third being mod map 2 (i.e. Winter map).

This unit also has the ability to read basic "P" code faults from most OBD equipped vehicles.

The units are sold at cost of £200 delivered in mainland UK and map packs for the unit start at £150 for a normally aspirated vehicle.

If we do a group buy I can get the prices down for the unit

1 x Powergate II S 196,00
5 x Powergate II S 175,00
10 x Powergate II S 160,00
25 x Powergate II S 150,00
50 x Powergate II S 140,00
100 x Powergate II S 125,00

A great feature with this unit is that if you sell your vehicle and have put the stock map back in to your vehicle then the unit can be used to time and time again on your subsequent vehicles so long as you revert them back to stock.

Please understand THIS UNIT WILL ONLY WORK ON ONE VEHICLE AT A TIME and has to be put back to stock to do another vehicle.

Here is the vehicle list that the unit will work on:  http://www.alientech.to/pdf/web/Pwglist.pdf

Here is a little more information on the box: http://www.alientech-to.it/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=121&lang=en

They arrive in printed blue or plain black depending on which way the wind blows

Just to explain the difference between the two mapping options.

Option one CARBON remap:

Your remap is written from scratch using the information we download from your ECU, this remap is custom written for your specific vehicle using our experience and best judgment to give you an OEM feeling, linear remap that we can tune to your driving style.

Option two full CARBON custom remap:

For this remap you would need to come to our facility to have your car tuned further again on our rolling road and can, if required include modifications such as exhausts, air filters etc.

Thanks
Craig

Debatable

Standard: Yes the MPS is quicker but not by the margin you would expect. The GTI fights very well.

Both cars @ circa 260hp: The GTI is much quicker when given equal grunt to the MPS

Both cars mapped: The MPS struggles with the power much more than the GTI initially but does stronger at higher speeds

I'm not saying this to start an argument, just stating what I've experienced.

Even if that were true, which according to fastlaps.com it isn't. In many cases the Mazda is less than 0.2 second a lap quicker and on some tracks the STANDARD GTI is quicker that the MPS. Now imagine the lap times with a mapped GTI

If it were all about speed we'd all be driving be poorly built torque steering monsters or chav Imprezzas....
