My views on society
« on: 24 July 2011, 19:39 »
I'm generally a grumpy old sod who is fairly intolerant of most people most of the time, but then once in a while someone / something comes along to make me think otherwise.

Today's example:
I'm stood outside washing the car this morning when a fella in a new Mini pulls up, winds down his window and asks me "Do you own a bicycle?"
Considering the vagueness of his question my reaction is fairly guarded and amounted to a cautious "Yes......?"
A few things went through my mind briefly.  Then his next statement had me fairly stumped for a moment, "I've got a VW bike rack for that Golf if you want it?"
My reply was again fairly restrained "Yes sure mate, that would be great."  Thinking to myself, did he mention money and what's the catch.
He parks up.  Its his and he needs to get rid of it before his wife leaves him or something.  Gave me his number and says to give him a call when its a good time for him to bring it around this afternoon.
I duly called him later today, he brings it over.  I'm now the owner of a rather snazzy genuine VW bike rack for our car.  He even showed me how to fit it.  Excellent.

Lesson for me perhaps is to lighten the f##k up a bit.  Oh and not all Mini drivers are ####s.
