Fuel Filler Neck

Hi Guys,

Golf failed its mot on a spot weld and fuel filler neck corrosion today. However, since some of the thread is missing from cleaning the neck up best I could. I have been advised by the MOT tester to buy a tempoary fuel cap. Seemingly when in place you press a but and it expands stopping any potenial leak. If you think of the O top of the neck and the @ being the fuelcap itself. The > comes out of the cap when the button is pressed - hope this is understandble. Thanks

I believe tempoary fuel caps are a mot fail.

I believe you can use temp caps as long as the flap locks...

when you lock the car the flap should be locked (it's part of central locking)

Ah I get you now lol.

Well the MOT tester described how the fuel cap I described works in the first post. I dont ever recall seeing the described ones before. I mean he sound happy to pass it if I get one like it lol.

When I used to do MOT's many years ago temporary fuel caps were always a failure as far as I can remember....that said, I know the kind of expanding cap you mention and can't see why this wouldn't be fine as they're normally quite secure.
