passat b5 hesitaion at low revs, please help??
« on: 21 July 2011, 16:34 »
I have been to look at a 1998 1.8 20v passat (non turbo), all seems very good, solid car, however there is a hesitation below 2,000rpm, just losses power, if you put your foot down it doesnt accelerate hardly at all untill it get above, then seems to go ok, any ideas what this could be?

Cheers
Mark
2 Mk2's, both in bits, 2 Rocco's soon to become 1, and a Polo 1.3.....

It sounds like a timing problem, but it could really be a number of things.
Have you got access to VAG com?

likely to be airflow meter or throttel body.

my 20v na A4 was a bit crap like that when i first bought it.  i blasted the TB out with gunwash and swaped the MAF and it was happy then.

drop me a PM if you need any bits as i;m brakeing the a4 in a half arsed manner atm after it droped a valve
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
