Ive got a mk 3 gti 2.0l had a problem with my starter motor and coil pack i have renewed them and im still not getting a spark. there used to be an immobiliser on it but that hs been removed properly. Has anyone got any ideas on what it could be thats causeing this problem.

hi all,
please help! my 97 2lt 8v mk3 golf gti was not starting when the engine was hot(fine when cold) so fitted new dizzy which solved start prob also fitted new spark plugs, but was running lumpy, slow etc so got local mech 2 do timing, was running alot better but wouldn`t rev past 5000rpm? now it wont start @ all! tried a different coil pack still wont start! anyone got any ideas? is there a sensor of these that would stop them starting? many thanks in advance!

hot start issue - often a failed / failing coolant temp sensor.

won't rev past 5000 = your machanic has messed up the ignition timing.

Usually best to start a new post for a new problem.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

if the car runs and wont go past 5k then the you will prob need to replace hall sensor. when they go they stop the engine going past 5k
