Wheel bearing
« on: 12 April 2005, 10:48 »
Hi all,

Is it easy to replace a front wheel bearing? I'm sure this is a very simple process but ive never done it before. Anything i should be careful of? etc

Garage was gonna charge me 60 quid for one wheel, so im thinkin for part that costs a tenner i can do it myself. Got access to a good jack, etc so thats not a prob.

Cheers

Lewis.

Don't bother unless you have access to a hydraulic press.
60 quid is extremely cheap, infact i'm surprised at that price.

Front wheel bearings are pressed in so you need a press to get them out, people who say they get them out with a hammer and drift are talking out of their arse.

Take the car to the garage and get it done.

Or if you can, buy the bearing and take the hub off the car and go see your friendly local garage and it should work out cheaper.
