Exhaust problems
« on: 11 April 2005, 19:51 »
I've got a full Magnex stainless system on my mk2 valver which I bought 2nd hand last summer. At the time of purchsse I was told it was only a few months old and had not covered many miles.

When it arrived it did look in top nick and soon wacked it on my motor. Anyway now, bout 8,000 miles later is making an awful racket, and the further you go through the rev range the noise gets louder. I took it to my mechanic and he said the baffles had gone in the centre section. Can this really be true, seeing as its supposed to be fairly new and that stainless systems come with a life time guarentee. Also my mechanic said the baffles going on stainless systems are a common problem.

Anyone else had similar problems to this - it this a common problem...?

its only the stainless steel & welds etc that have a lifetime guaratee. the baffles aint.

personally i think magnex are sh!te. plus they re-circulate the gases inside the silencers to reduce noise so they are probably more restrictive than a std system.
