Yeah the M-Sport has some very nice touches.

I do find the cabin to be a bit cramped in a 1-Series and i'm short.

Not really had a problem with the one we had and I'm 6'3" & Mrs D is 5'10"

I won't be acquiring a "low spec version"

I found a pic of Mrs Docs old motor:

I like the M1's but I would rather have a 3 series BM than a 1. My dad had an M1 for a couple of years and the ride in it was back breaking going over bumps on those run flat tyres.

anyone that's had a 3 series coupe in this office has given it back within 6 months due to too many visits back to BMW for electronics and coil packs.  Seems BMW is similar to VW.  Prestige marques just get you lots of time sat in a prestige leather sofa at the Stealer rather than in your motor.

I have a few friends with 3 series 4dr and 2dr.... not had any problems what so ever. I guess again it depends on the dealers you go back to  :undecided:

Hi everyone - newbee here.

Having just taken delivery (yesterday) of a brand spanker GTI, for She Who Must Be Obeyed, I was curious to know what others were considering replacing the MK6 with.  Having had 4 previous GTI's (1 Mk2 [brilliant!) 2 Mk 3's (why???) and 1 Mk 4) I was anxious the wife had one so I could play with it

We considered the A3 2.0TFSI S Line and various incarnations of the BMW 1, but settled on the GTI.  Okay, nostalgia played a part, but in all honesty it was simply the best all round option - especially when we got £2K of the list.  It's an amazing car and I expect we'll have various niggles (can you believe I've already had to have the rims changed, 'cause she didn't like them !!) but I really would not have bought anything else for the money right now.  I have a MY11 TTS myself, which is more practical than many might think, but the versatility of the Golf, coupled with the performance, is a winner.

Welcome Critter.
What wheels did you go for instead of what it had?

The GTI is a fine choice and unless you're really unlucky you won't regret it at all. It still has that certain little something that makes it that little bit better than everything else. I don't know whether the GTI and Golfs in general are that good or whether everything else in the catergory is just a bit rubbish and dull but it still sits there as the stand out model.
I've had mine two years now and have been contemplating a change of car on and off, but the only thing I can think of that I would actually buy would be another Golf. So there's really not much point!
I did negotiate on another car very recently as I really want a car with xenons (I work nights so do an awful lot of my driving in the dark) but it got sold whilst I was discussing it with them and the lovely dealership didn't even have the courtesy to phone and tell me they'd sold it whilst I was awaiting them to call back with some figures. *Edit to that, they may have tried to phone me a while after I posted the above*

The TTS is a very nice car, lets have some photos of both cars!

Fully rate the xenons, fully slate your dealer, booo!!!!!

Mine seem brighter than the ones on the new A4's.  Like a lot brighter!
