Yes the M5 is alot of car for the money!! mate has one with a remap and its a mean bit of kit. They are known to eat gearboxs though, so you HAVE TO get warrenty or leave well alone.

My money would go on this

A mate of mine had an M5 for a few months and in the end he part-ex'd it for an r32 because he said the M5 is an incredible car but the running costs are in the supercar league ie servicing and parts and he couldn't stomach it anymore.
How about an M3? pound for pound still one of the most capable cars on sale and most of the t**ts have moved on to 4x4's.

They are built absolutely terribly.

I've had 3 now (different engines, expected different things) the trim was loose, they are ridiculously uncomfortable and badly designed inside, they are just terrible. Plus the fact that there are more E46's on the road than Mondeos means you have to really be in the company of a BMW snob to know the difference between your 46 M3 and the school run Mum's 320d m sport.

They're quite fun if you turn the traction control ALL the way off, but they're so heavy, when you get the grip back in the rear wheels, it's really severe, plus you're so uncomfortable it's hard to enjoy driving it unless you're wrecking the rear tyres.

M5 is a much more refined drive, not to mention comfy as hell and imposing to look at.

Think the Evo X was the best suggestion, its everything the RS wants to be and not chavy, the super cars such as the Aston, Maserati etc... Good idea's but the maintenance costs will molest you making the evo seem like a cheap 1.2 polo.

I love the look of the A5 but wouldn't get the s5, focus looks chavy, doesn't produce the figures and the vag counterparts such as the mk2 LCR, s3 will run rings round it.
