been in the industry for 10 years but needed a change after 7 years at Vestas building wind turbine blades so went into building Express 40 race yachts, that bit me in the arse 8 months later when I got made redundant lol

Found a new job doing a wide variety of stuff and meanwhile Vestas shut meaning 400 people were out of work in an instant so every cloud and all that

Island used to be crying out for laminators few years ago now its a dying trade.
Worked in cowes for few years making bits for sunseeker then got made redundant. Am a postman now and i love it.

Agreed it's moved over to pre preg rather than poly or epoxy hand laminating now which is why so many places have had to lay off. Vestas is a definite example of this, bastards

It's fine so long as you're not allergic to the various unpleasant chemicals in use on the job.

As far as I can make out from various friends who have worked in the industry, if you aren't allergic to the compounds in use then you probably will be before very long, after you've been sensitised to them...
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

I work for a major supermarket as a management trainee, I do enjoy it most of the time.

Although going up to Yorkshire for a meeting on Wednesday will be hard work, fortunately they're paying expenses!

Then 2 months of night work, not ideal at the moment but ALOT more money to spend which will be ideal!

I got sick of working 50 hours + for 37 hours pay! That and the fact i could never see friends or do anything as i worked saturdays!

Sometime's I get sick of it, but I've got to do what I've got to do. Contract of 37? Mine's 42.

Still i expect you do more? The hours were irrelevant, it just made the hourly rate seem higher to attract more people, was 40 when i first started
My good friend still loves it, he wants to keep moving up, just was not for me. I knew if i took the deputy role i would spend the rest of my life there and as im getting older im more interested in money vs happiness; happiness should always win! Im learning C++, C#, HTML, CSS etc to further my skills in IT and hoping my current role will boost my CV while i do it. Average pay for a C# contractor is £400 a day and up but will take a year or two before i can reach that, then i will truly say i love my job. At the moment im quite happy though, i couldnt sit and come on here while i worked at Tesco!!
