Electrical or Mechanical?
« on: 12 July 2011, 11:10 »
I'm going to fit an oil pressure gauge to my MK3 1.4 and my brother told me to get a mechanical gauge like he did for his Saxo and he will fit it for me. The only thing that bothers me is that you have to have a small pipe of oil going to the back of the gauge in the dash and I've read a few stories of them being a nightmare and leaking etc

What would you go for? Mechanical in my opinion with give a more accurate reading but electrical will just be less mess if anything is to go wrong.

I've read mechanical is the better option because I have an electrical fault with my oil pressure light apparently because it comes on at 900rpm and goes off at 1000rpm I've changed the sensors etc and no luck fixing it. Pressure is OK but I just wanted to keep an eye on it with a gauge in my car.

Thanks for any replies!

Mechanical is the best choice.
