Talk to me about GT TDI unlocking please Doc. My car came from your home town, so I'm sure it would be happy to take a trip back some day soon.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

.... if we take this forum as a guide the make up of VW owners I would go as far as to say 90% of them are to$$ers anyway
Gilly, self praise is no praise:tongue:
I take it all back.. there is just one BIG TO$$ER on here it appears

I admire your humility when you embarrass yourself.

I've been thinking about my next car  :smug: (as usual), so what are Golf GTDs like to drive on a day to day basis?    :smug: :smug: :smug:

April fool? in July.

Both the GTI and GTD are very capable cars but, specifically re the GTD:-

I like the look of the GTD the chrome strip on the grill is less "in your face" and more classy rather than sporty.

Yes, you get the diesel rattle on start up but the cabin is well insulated so there's little noise intrusion into the cabin.

I love the mid-range torque that you get and the acceleration from stand still is plenty enough even if it is a blink or two behind the petrol engine

Oh and I visit petrol stations less often - I get 45-50 MPG and I don't drive like an old man!

Will do on Friday with some nice pics as I'm away in the Costa Del Crime at the mo having a well earned week of sun

Tops and bottoms are that the latest ECUs have anti tuning protection, I have a tool that circumnavigates this anti tuning protection to make them tuneable - in your case to around 170 BHP

Whaaat? No......me?..........never.......I mean........surely........nooo.......err......really.........as if........

Despite what everyone seems to think, I've long championed the GTD and half wished I'd bought one originally, but as Fazz realised early on this thread was related to certain comments on another thread made by my partner in crime

as good as the gtd can look... you will always get gti  owners looking down their nose at you.

I would get the GT TDI 140 all day long (and remap it)
I'm an ex-SEAT owner (in fact I still am) so am used to all snotty VW drivers looking down their noses at me, I can take that!
I was looking at GT TDIs back along believe it or not. I quite fancy a DSG one as my mate's old lease car went like a rocket. Comfy too. Just add some nice wheels and LED tails and hey presto!

For me it's the DSG which made me buy another golf having come from a Mk5 GT DSG. I'd be more than happy with a GTD DSG but the GTI DSG has the added bonus of the nice popoing noise it makes from the exhaust when accelerating hard and quickly through the gears. Would be even better with the Miltek exhaust.
