Stick it on it'll be better than the original. Even better if you add a ported throttle body, 6 branch mani and decent exhaust system - then a Re -map!!!

2.9 are all obd1 and I don't think they fit straight on a late spec obd2 golf iv been told you need an adapter plate for the throttle body! But if you have an older obd1 your fine anyway!
