I assume claiming for a new windscreen doesn't effect your no claims etc.  As in, it doesn't count as a proper claim?

My no claims are protected anyway but i'm pretty sure it doesn't effect it

I don't really want to take if off the road tbh! I can use the gf's car for work as & when I want, I'll take hers a few days a week & save a bit of cash

Depends on the insurance company you're with (when getting quotes I saw some asking if I had claimed on the Windscreen, how long ago, for what reason etc), find out how much a heated MK4 windscreen would be

Cancel you insurance and worry about the windscreen later, you could sort it with the new policy

I'm guessing that Wayne was suggesting that I leave the windscreen damaged, and cancel my insurance as I was intending to. Then when I put the car back on the road look into getting the windscreen replaced.

It's all completely irrelevant now though because I have a new screen fitted and the car is staying on the road

Poxy little stone hit my dailys screen the other day, the chip is the size of the end of a tooth pic but has caused a crack nearly a foot and a half long!
