The car spent the day in the capable hands of Nick at carbon to try & find my missing power. When first mapped it made 205bhp & 245ft/lbs however at the RR day earlier in the month it only managed 187bhp & 200ft/lbs

The maf was replaced with a new Bosch one which didn't resolve the problem. Today Nick sorted out some dodgy pipework, fixed a very slight boost leak and did lots of logging.

The result was 194bhp & 200ft/lbs which is slightly better & the car is running better but its still down on torque massively :undecided:

The logging showed a peak of only 11psi, however it confirmed that both the n75 & MAF are working correctly. The n75 is requesting the correct amount of boost & its just not being delivered. This means the problem is likely to lie with the actuator

Is that an easy fix  :undecided:

After recent events I've really been thinking about chopping the Mk4 in for another Mk3...however I'm going to persevere for a bit longer. I'm going to save hard for some nice coilovers & I think once the car is lower it will make a massive difference to how it looks.

I'll let the Carbon boys work their magic during half term week and hopefully it'll be back to full power. I'm expecting a boost leak tbh, so silicone hoses will be ordered if that is the diagnosis.

In the mean time the rear badge has been bugging me a little, I didn't really like it sprayed black & talking to a few others it was obviously letting the rear of the car down. I was going to upgrade to a Sharan badge but cannot justify spending £25 on a badge at the moment. I had some spare carbon wrap lying around and after speaking to Will (Billabong) at the RR day yesterday I decided to try and wrap the badge:

Really like your rear badge dom. Have been planning on doing exactly the same to mine for some time now but you beat me to it. Oh well i'll just copy! I've done my front badge but struggled to make a nice job of bending it around the ouside of the badge without creasing. Gonna have to redo. Any tips?

Cheers

The best tip I can give you is to cut a sheet of vinyl and place it over the badge, get a heatgun (or hairdryer) and get the vinyl really warm and it will become really pliable and you'll be able to stretch it right over the edges. You might have to make a couple of slits but that can be done discreetly

Not too sure tbh, I've got no idea if the actuator can be replaced with the turbo in the car :undecided:

It's an easier & cheaper fix than the alternative though.

If it's not the actuator and there are definitely no boost leaks then the only other piece of hardware it could be is the turbo itself, but on a car with only 56k on the clock I'd hope it's not the case :undecided:

Lets hope it is the actuator then, good luck with it.

I think to replace the actuator involves getting to the turbo, so almost as much work as replacing one. If you take that route, would be rude not to put an updated Forge on in :)
