Need buying advice
« on: 09 July 2011, 18:33 »
I'm looking at buying a mk5 gti edition30.

The particular one i'm looking at is being sold by a private seller. Here's the info...
Quote
6 Speed Manual; Diamond Black Pearl;
Heated Leather/Interlagos seats;IPod connection in Front Arm Rest;Cruise Control; Heat Insulated Tinted Glass 65% from B Pillar Back; Heated Power Fold Wing Mirrors;Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror, Automatic Headlights & Wipers Tyre Pressure Monitor; Front Fog Lights, ISOFIX Child Seat Anchor Points, 3x3 Point Rear Seat Belts;
4 Electric Windows, Remote Central Locking; ABS; Traction Control;Front & Rear Carpet Mats; Adjustable Steering & Seat Height, Multiple Airbags front,rear & side; Dual Climate Control Air Conditioning; Split fold Rear seats; Front Fog Lamps;
Full Volkswagen Service History; MOT until 1st March 2012; We have owned the car from new and is in Immaculate condition.

It looks lovely in the pictures. The guy states the car has a 17,700 mileage. Its on an 08 plate and he is selling it for £15000.

Now I have never bought a car privatly before especialy for this amount of money. What advice can you guys give me and what questions should I ask the seller about the car - thanks in advance  :smiley:

Check all the electrics work including A/C mirrors etc. Check it HPI clear and never been in an accident/stolen etc. Make sure the V5 matches VIN on the car etc

All the usuals that you go for...worth asking if any work has been done under warranty. Check pads, discs and as you would normally

Thanks for reply.

Am just a little hesitant having never brought privatly before. I have just done an hpi check using > https://www.hpicheck.com/marlin/entryPoint.do

The results from this site have all returned good results. There was also lots of other info about other things to look out for.

Anyway i'm really excited now , i'm going to look at this car tuesday night. Will post back how I get on. Getting my ed30 may be a dream no more.... :smug:
