GT TDi issues
« on: 09 July 2011, 17:33 »
I've got a mate whos recently bought a mk5 Golf GT TDi , unfortunately it seems to have more than it's share of issues.

To cut a long story short and miss out a load of stuff that's not that relavent, he had it scanned at a garage the other day and the crank shaft sensor came up as having an intermittent fault. The car ran OK apart from being very slightly hesitant sometimes. Anyway he had it replaced and now the car's a right sh*tter to drive. At idle it sounds pretty rough and when driving it has no power, occasionally it will pick up OK but is massively laggy and bogs down horribly when low in the revs (to the point where pulling out from a junction is dangerous). It's got a bit of a judder under load too. No warning lights on the dash though.

Are these things symptoms of a dodgy crank sensor? I'm thinking it's too much of a coincidence to be anything else, but I don't know modern diesels well at all. Ideas?
