MK4 gti turbo up grade
« on: 09 July 2011, 11:24 »
Hi ive got the golf gti turbo with AGU engine fitted, its a T reg 1999 i wanted to change the turbo to a K03s as i under stand mine has the K03 but after been looking into this i have also found out that mine has smaller injectors

First off what is the differance between the K03 & K03s?
also if i change to a K03s will i gain more power?
could i fit green top injectors into it and will this help, i under stand that the green top injectors are standard spec for the G60

Please can someone help me

Cheers
Craig

The K03s has a bigger compressor wheel & comp housing and can flow around 40bhp more.  You can run it on the stock injectors at a higher duty cycle which is not a issue with AGU oem injectors.  All you need is k03s turbo, 007p, turbo intake pipe, full turbo back exhaust, and to get the most power ast the top end a good FMIC will bee needed to substain the power.

Forge 007p is an upgrade recirculating valve see here http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=94010.0

I think nick miss typed that is supposed to read "at" the top end

FMIC = front mounted Intercooler

Yup typo error as usual.. :-)

With the right bits and a custom remap you will have a very quick motor, boost will be around 21psi peak and 18psi sustained which the turbo will happy with for many years to come.  When we remap them we tend to find the actuator is the limiting factor due to weak spring tension, so if your going to do the ko3s it's a good idea to fit the forge actuator with yellow spring so you know you getting the best boost control.

That makes perfect sense now i understand what they mean.

One more question there is a dump valve fitted to it at the moment not sure on the make think its a cheap one, going by the link you sent me that will cause running problems
Mine is a AGU but really not happy with the power it drives smooth enough but doesnt pull like i expected it would

Thank you so much for your help i can get my head round it now

Best place to start is will stage 1 mapping and getting the car to run correct at this stage, once you know your running good stage1 power, you can then compliment the map by adding your bolt on goodies, exhaust, induction kit, fmic, tip and then ko3s then get a custom map to make the most of your mods and turbo.

As for the dump valve, as long as it's not leaking or bleeding boost off it should be fine. If it's a blow off dump valve you should fine fine still on the agu, you will get fuel trim issues because the air is being vented but the ecu can account for this to an extent.

A healthy running mapped ko3 @ 190bhp/225lbft should give you a big grin and transform your car.
