Door lock module repair - wish me luck boys!

I've got an idea.

I'll have a go at saving the moola, by getting a micro switch from RS and I'll make it fit. It'll work alright, but I'll either alraldite it in place or use some M2 bolts. Sod paying £120 for a module, which is what VW quoted me last week. Only reason I never got one, is I have to order it as they don't keep it, but I never managed to order it as they won't place orders over the phone.

Once that's done, I'll have a write up for you chaps that the mods can sticky if they like it.

Yes, as with the switch cut out, then there is no sticky switch.

The door is registered as open if the switch contacts are closed. My switch was mostly stuck closed, telling the car that the door is open, with intermittent opening of the contacts.

So cutting the switch out leaves the door 'closed', until I source a switch.

I think I may need to revisit the door module, as I'm uncertain about wheather or not it's put back together properly, as now the alarm doesn't set and if I press lock, then lock again, the drivers door unlocks. So I may have jiggled the mechanics of the module about to make or not make another microswitch activate or deactivate properly.

It's alot of messing about, I must admit, in an attempt to save £120, but it's given me a real insight into how this all works.

which I'm going to seperate to use the new top with the old bottom, as the bottom part of the switch works perfectly, it's only the old top plunger that has worn.

Now, before I go any further, I really need to see if I can find out what exactly the other four microswitches inside the module do, as it's only since taking it apart that my alarm doesn't set and the door unlocks if I press lock a second time.

Excellent find.

I've ordered my switch, hopefully at the weekend I'll do some more. I'll take the module apart again and see if I can jiggle things around and get it to work how it did before.
