About 2 weeks ago my golf's gearbox whent bang! on the motorway
, I went to my local scrappy and picked up what he said was a gti 8v gearbox for £96. Now i would have got it from somewhere else but with work i didn't have any time to find a decent second hand box. So my local garage fitted the new gearbox and replaced the clutch aswell. The problem being that the gearbox is
not from a gti so my speedo is all f**ked up, it's showing the wrong speed ( i think about 15mph faster than actual ). i'm not sure what to do about it. I'm thinking i could get the right set of clocks and fit the speedo into my cluster , not sure uf this is possible! or get a Gti box and fork out for the fitting again!
What does everyone think?
by the way the gearbox otherwies is fine, no crunches or difficult changes
