Passenger side window glass
« on: 07 July 2011, 15:25 »
Hi Guys,

Hope somone can help me, Im trying to help a mate with his Mk5, some scumbag put his window through on the passenger side whilst we were at the rugby, Anyway they didnt get much but I told him to get the glass and we would fit it.

Removed the door card no problem and lined up the clamps with the holes. It seemed to be a 4mm HEX bolt. one side opened fine and we cleaned the broken glass out. but the side closest to the lock will just not give and we are close to chewing the dam thing up. I have tried everything I can think of. We even managed to get all the glass out of the clamp using a 2mm drill bit to try to relive the pressure but it just seems to be stuck fast.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thanks

Dan

screw remover drill bit?
threaded anti clockwise and will bite and unscrew - screw will be un-useable afterwards, though

Thanks Adam

Just came to post for the benefit of anyone that found this with the same person!

As you say they are REVERSE thread!! as you are unscrewing a bot away from you.

Anyway we drilled the rivets on the speaker and took the clamp out and replaced with a nut and bolt!

all sorted!
