PROGRESS REPORT 4 WEEKS ON & WHATS NEXT ? SUGGESTIONS PLEASE !

Hi guys just thought would put a progress report up on my mk3 car auction cheapie as you may or may not know paid £300 + auction fees had 11 months mot and 5 months tax and initially bought it to clean up and sell on but the drive home changed that plan  was totally standard altho paint was completely flat and looked matt black , interior altho not ripped or torn did have an additional inch thick layer of dog hair , sweet wrappers , parking tickets , mcdonalds packaging and the odd chip  So once got it home the clean up commenced and 2 days later and a bin bag full o junk a very standard yet now clean mk3 gti appeared out of my garage ! That was approx 4 weeks ago , since then its kept me quite busy and ive tried to mod it as cheaply as possible trawling ebay and local scrapyards and have done the following to it ...........

HELLA TWIN HEADLIGHTS -£40 EBAY
LOWER GLOVEBOX £5 SCRAPYARD
REPLACEMENT UPPER GLOVEBOX HANDLE & LOCK £5 EBAY
PELACEMENT WIPER ARM AND MFA -£3 SCRAPYARD
ANNIVERSARY SILVER DIALS -£22 EBAY
FRONT & REAR SATIN BLACK VW BADGES -£FREE ( JUST SPRAYED THEM )

NOW JUST NEEDS EXHAUST ........... BUT WHAT NEXT ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR FURTHER BUDGET MODS
I am thinking of trying modify a recaro interior of some description to go in as cant seem to drop on a black concept leather which i would ideally like  ! And possibly a bonnet bra , but undecided on that yet ??

yep agree vr6 chin spoiler i had not thought of that  ! also fitted some HID's as thought standard h1 was very poor i forgot put them on my list -£28 EBAY !!

Looks really nice - I have to admit, as soon as you mentioned 17" wheels, I thought 'oh no, not another sh*t looking mk3' , but you've proved me wrong, you have probably the ONLY mk3 I've ever seen that looks good with 17" wheels, they honestly suit it perfectly - plus you havent made it look gay with 165 or smaller width tyres on them!  

I wouldnt do anything else to the exterior now, except maybe a nice Jetex back box or cat back exhaust.

Get some pics of the interior up then we can comment on that!

Next you want to do some cheap engine mods.. ebay performance chip can be had for about £40 I think, pipercross filter, mod the airbox (threads on here and clubgti show how to do that best)  I'm also in the process of having a VR clutch and a lightened flywheel fitted, its not massive money if you want to go down that route.  I've also modded the shifter tower, a mod via Hotgolf on clubgti (although not sure if he is rolling it out in the mainstream or if I still have a bespoke part)  Change gear box oil for Redline - I'm sure I'll think of more soon..

IMHO the only thing spoiling it is the Hellas, but that's just my preference.

Those wheels are awesome... Very 90's.  

I'm probably gonna get told off for this, but I think this car, with those wheels would suit an old skool subtle aftermarket spoiler for the 90's euro vibe.

Really smart i like this and what a bargain,thats what i paid but no t+t,have you painted your calipers or are they new,hella's look pants take them off and sell them to me lol, is it 8 or 16v?

I always think standard tinted headlamps look better tbh.
