TOO HIGH AT THE FRONT
« on: 10 April 2005, 09:01 »
I own a Golf GTI Mk3 8v 3 door on a 97 plate. I want to lower the car but only by about 30mm. Now when I look at the car the front seems too high. Now when I lower the car I want it even all round. I have found these springs from demon tweeks which lower the front by 50mm and the back by 30mm.

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/catalogue/product_detail.asp?CLS=ROAD&TLGRP=R003&CODE=WEITEC_SPRING_KIT&PGRP=RP033&GRP=RP033&PCODE=WEIVW058F

Has anybody got any advice on this or had this problem or should I just stick to a 30mm kit all round. I am on a budget and cant afford adjustables so want to get it right first time round.

Thanks
Mark

not lowered mine yet either but have noticed you can get lowering spring caps that apparently lower the front end by about 10-15mm. £20 from venom and probably other places too.

I've just been quoted £49.49 from Stu at Euro Car Parts in Leeds. You get a discount as a member of this forum. Try him on: 0113 394 5000

The springs drop it 40mm all round. I'll be ordering some this week and fitting next week. I'm running on OZ 15's with 195/50's. Don't know if there will be any rubbing, hope not, but i have recently noticed tell-tale signs that they've scraped on the current setup...

Venom told me that the lowering strut tops only come for the MKI and MKII - I fancied them myself :(

I take it by that you mean you've already lowered it and to fit them would mean disassembly all over again?

Well I went for the PI springs 35mm only and it has definatly lowered the car to a nice level all round. I have the standard 15" wheels on I wouldnt go any lower than this. I cant believe what a diffrence it feels too drive, like a GTI should do.

I had Pi's on my old jetta tx. I rated them pretty high. How's the ride quality?
