Newbie from N Essex
« on: 05 July 2011, 12:04 »
Hello people!

Just got a Mk3 Gti Anniversary edition.  Have been an MX5 owner for the past 3 years (if anyone wants one in VGC let me know  ).  Was a member of the MX5OC and thought I would join you guys!

Car all seems fine, takes a couple of seconds to fire up (bloke mentioned this when I bought it) - hoping a replacement coil and maybe leads/plugs will fix it?

Cheers

Mine only starts on say the 3rd or fourth turn of the engine, so I wouldnt worry too much.
But always good to check plugs/leads.
I wouldnt bother with a coil to start off with, better to check dizzy and rotor arm first!

Thanks for that.

He did say he had a new coil last year and I thought that had not lasted long.  Is dizzy cap & rotor arm easy DIY?

Yea mate dead easy!
Oh unless the rotor arm has not been off for a while as some folk have been known to glue them on!
Had to smash mine off the first time I did it!
On my 3rd in 8 years.
