here's the culprit: cam shaft pulley

Here, you can see that the crank shaft pulley's lock key magically disappeared (right)

I changed the crank shaft pulley, the cam shaft pulley, and the timing belt's tensioner.

i've had the woodruf key snap on me before but it was on a fiat punto, at least you know what the problem was and have got it sorted now
