First 'big' clean/wash/detail...advice please
« on: 03 July 2011, 20:17 »
I am kind of new to this 'detailing'. Had the interior of my car 'valeted', and now my cleanliness OCD has gotten worse. I have never properly waxed/detailed a vehicle before. This weekend I was going to treat my self. I first need to buy the products, I was looking at buying these:

Dodo Juice Sour Power Shampoo: 1x 250ml Bottle
Dodo Juice Diamond White Hard Wax 30ml
Dodo Lime Prime Paint Cleaner: 1x 250ml Bottle
Dodo Juice Blue Roo Applicator Pad (Only buying to make up price to over £39 to get free microfibre towels)
Monza Microfibre Deepile Mitt BUY 1 GET 1 FREE!!: 2x Mitt Deal
I also have a megs clay bar kit & a couple of microfibre towels.

I think I know the order to use them all in and will be using the '2 bucket method'. I am wondering though, what is the 'best' technique to get tar of the lower half of my car and how do I use an applicator pad?

I am hoping this is all I need to get my car gleaming :)

Cheers

Dampen the applicator pad and apply the wax in thin layers. Apply in a circular motion to ensure full coverage. Remember thin layers. Apply to much and it'll be a nightmare to remove. A small amount goes along way. Remove with a couple of microfibre cloths. Apply 2 to 3 coats.

To remove tar id suggest autosmart tardis or a quality TFR (traffic film remover) depending on how severe the tar spots are.

There are good stickys explaining "how to" at the top of the detailing section, its well worth having a look and a read through.

Welcome to detailing

Also if you haven't already you should take a look at www.waxamomo.co.uk for all your detailing needs and advice
