A wheel width question

Will increasing the alloy wheel width from 7.5" to 8" affect the car's ride and handling with 225/40 R18 tyres?

A bit late to worry about that!
In my experience there's no real difference. Somtimes I get a bit of torque steer, but then again I have nearly 100 lb ft extra so you'd expect one or two issues!

And a bit of bad spelling thrown in for free.  :smiley:

You can feel that there is something different underneath you when you're driving as you have changed both the offset and width of the wheel, but if anything it feels a bit more surefooted.

I've changed wheel and tyre combos enough times to still make something in my brain register that there has been a change, but it doesn't affect how the car drives very much.

This might probably improve the handling of my winter tyre. Hope it does not increase noise levels or stretch the tyre to negate the effectiveness of the rim protection.  :rolleyes:
