Price for a Mk4 Golf?
« on: 02 July 2011, 11:36 »
My car    Mk4 Golf GTI 1.8 20V
Miles      120k
Reg        S plate

How much to Remap?
Difference in engine power?
Can it damage any part of the engine being an older car with the miles it's done?

Thanks Guys

Can you send us your ECU?

If so, we can tune it for £175 inc return postage (we send out the same day we receive it to minimise downtime at your end).

120k is average miles on that car - has it been maintained correctly?

I don't recall the OP mentioning it was a turbo.

Cost is 225 UK pounds either here with a dyno run or at your place.

Non turbo

125 bhp > 135 bhp
170 Nm > 190 Nm

Turbo

150 bhp > 180-190 bhp
210 Nm > 290 Nm

I all depends on your engine code, condition of the car to what power you will see. I would say even before thinking of getting you car remapped I would say get a full visual diagnostics inspection on the engine to make sure it's fit to remap, then once you know the car is in a fit state you can then start to wind the power up. I would say 9 out of 10 pre year 2000 cars are not in a fit state to remap because of minor underlaying issues can be easy fixes pre remap, but post remap can cause major issues.   Your not too far from our workshop, so if you want to pop over one day we will be will to give your car a quick once over £foc ( you need to bring hobnobs with u)

I hope this answers your question
Nick

That sounds like a good plan to me. What day would be best to pop over and have it checked over Nick?
