Golf 5 gti
« on: 01 July 2011, 21:51 »
Good evening I'm new to this forum and just wanted to ask for some advice please.

I'm in the Market for a Golf 5 gti, dsg, 18 inch wheels and leather interior.

I have found one on eBay for £8250 which seems like a good deal, millage is about 53000, which sounds low? The guy has been upfront and said the wheels need refurbing. The only thing is on inspection of the photos on the leather head rests there is the R logo, so that would mean the seats have come out an R32 at some point?

Does that price sound right or too good to be true? Also is there anyway I can get the millage verified??

Thanks again, cheers

welcome to the forum

you can check the recorded mileage at each MOT online.. it will become apparent if its been fiddled... you do need details from the V5 or a previous MOT though... if the seller is genuine and wants to sell the car then they should have no problem in giving you these details

welcome, hopefully the car is spot on and you get it.  Does seem like a good deal, interesting that its had the seats changed.  Is that definitely the only mod its had?
Good link Guy.

I know the guy has said he changed the steering wheel because he wanted the multiple function, and the light switch has been changed to a silver one from a passat I think he said. Other than what I mentioned everything else seems standard.

If there are any major faults a good test drive would detect them?

I do like the car but don't wanna rush out and do something stupid.

Cheers

Test drive will show up a lot but do some checks.  As Guy said, the above is useful, perhaps an HPI too. Pay very close atention to all it's paperwork if you go and see it.  make sure it all adds up and matches this car perfectly... heard a few bad tales on here recently.
