So £1000 is pretty fair for metallic paint, removing bumpers and colour coding wing mirrors.
Found a company called tj spraytech.... Low bake oven what ever that means...

I paid £1360 for mine spayed inside and out( bar engine bay as that will be done when the engine comes out.
Then £100 to have all glass removed and replaced.
The job is fantastic and I'm well chuffed with it!
I sent him the shell basically so bear thus in mind.
£1000 seems very cheap

Some body shops will give u a discount if you do some of the prepping yourself...

Do the major chunk of the rubbing down so that it's ready for primer, paint and lacquer and u may get a discount as that takes a few hours to do!

I work in a bodyshop and a £1000 is peanuts for a propper job ie handles, mouldings etc removing.I personally would'nt do any prepping yourself as any decent body shop will scrape out your filler to make sure the foundation of the repair is good because the last they want to do is bake the car and have the filler "pop". :smiley:But you get what you pay for

For a real top job that's going to last and has depth i would expect to pay £3000 upwards. That may seem expensive but over the years i have seen so many "fantastic" paint jobs look poor after a year or 18 mths.I guess it all depends on how long you intend to keep the car for.

Many moons ago i worked for a company called CP Autocraft who specialised in AC Cobra's built from  scratch (Google Brian Angliss,my ex boss). That was over 30 years ago and the guy who did the paint on them charged £3k per car then !

Pointless action if you're going to sell it straight away.

Yeah but there is a lot of paint peeling off roof and one side of car,so can't see it being worth a lot ...
