GTD MUD FLAPS

Just collected my new GTD, just wanted to know if its worth getting the mud guards on, the dealer wanted around £90 for them and about £90 for fitting, it it worth it?

Personally I would say no way. Others will disagree! In my mind, they spoil the looks in return for offering sod all protection. And the 90 quid fitting is a joke! They are easy enough to DIY.

They are dead easy to fit in around 10 mins per side - I have them on the front of mine and they seem to work well  :wink:

If you don't mind the looks its worth it on the front imo as the sides of the car get dirty very quickly even with just a slight dampness on the road. Worse than any other car ive owned for this.

But sorry imo £90 fitting is a p1ss take they are simple as simple can be to fit.

Always the last deal clincher, right at the end, always had them chucked in as part of a deal, never paid for them on my last 5 cars!

I had them for protection down the sills as I keep my cars for a long time.

According to the VW Accessory brochure they are front - 5K0 075 111 - £64, rear - 5K0 075 101 - £64. You can get genuine ones of eBay cheaper golf mk 6 mud flaps.

They are easy to fit so its not worth paying the dealer £90. But if your bothered about the looks then don't have them its as simple as that?

The GTI is a fast shopping trolly and not a rally rouser. Looks odd and ugly with those mini beef curtains. :sick:
Those hangings probably do not help the aerodynamics either.

As said before, £90 fitting is a joke.

I've got a set still in the box that I haven't got round to fitting yet. I'm putting it off because I'm debating whether or not to fit Blue Motion side skirts. However, so far the car has stayed fairly clean without them. What mudflaps do help with is tar spots and I'm starting to pick up a few of them, so I better pull my finger out and decide what to do.

Would i have to take the wheel off to install them also, are the holes already there for installation
