Sorry to see this Asker
Mines been in the wars too today.

A kind sole at work noticed a seagull doing a bombing raid on the roof of my car. They kindly cleared it off with wet toilet roll then porred a bottle of water on the roof to dilute and clean the left over bits. The only problem is later this morning the sun came out and was very very hot. The puddles of water they left have etched in water mark stains  ive tried to polish it out tonight but there not budging.

Snoopy, I've got a g220 machine polisher and a load of polishes if you want to have a borrow

Drop me a pm if you do.

Right, some useful information for those who might appreciate it.

I will have the gouges fixed by:
Adrian of http://www.glasweld.info/ on Tuesday next week.

He is part of this group:
http://www.glaswelduk.com/

National Windscreens wished to replace the whole screen. Just imagine the problems I would probably have later on, with squeaks, rattles, damaged trim etc. etc. So decided to give them a miss, for now.

The damage happened in the car park. A very sharp shard of concrete fell onto the rear screen. Saw the offending shard on the floor today. Was getting paranoid that Wolfgang was being targeted by humans. I can deal quite comfortably with inanimate objects (with or without butteries).

I'm a bit late in here so I'll have to summarise my thoughts quickly.
Good God, not another foreign body hitting Wolfgang > That sounds like a neat repair method.

And for Geoff: f**king sh!te Hawks, shoot the lot of 'em!

Well not so sh!tty. Sh!te on my head increased my bank balance, sh!te on my car brought further damage to Wolfgang.
On balance and after careful checking, I am still better off.
So let the sh!te times roll.

Snoops, I'd recommend some of this stuff: http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/meguiars/body-solvent-3-78l.aspx

I have a cooking surface black car and it's done a great job of lifting the tough stuff. For the really obstinate marks, clay bar usually finishes the job off nicely.
