How did this happen?
« on: 28 June 2011, 18:37 »
Just noticed 5 gouges on my rear heated window. They were not there yesterday. Of this I am certain. Car was parked in a covered car park all day, normally where I park.
This car keeps picking up all sorts of weird damage.
Glass can be replaced for a £70 excess payment with no effect on my NCB. Cannot be fixed as it is not laminated and would shatter if this was attemped.
Damn and blast.

Or just blindingly jealous. Gawd knows.
Just got me thinking .... Now, why did VW do a full valet FOC?

More thinking: Only the rear windscreen was wet when I left the car park and it was in a completely covered area. Maybe a bit of carpark roof fell on it. Curiouser and curiouser.

There are some garages available near my house but the driveway is too narrow to enter. I've tried.
I think it happened at work with a bit of roof dropping on it. I'll check tomorrow.

Sorry to see this Asker
Mines been in the wars too today.

A kind sole at work noticed a seagull doing a bombing raid on the roof of my car. They kindly cleared it off with wet toilet roll then porred a bottle of water on the roof to dilute and clean the left over bits. The only problem is later this morning the sun came out and was very very hot. The puddles of water they left have etched in water mark stains  ive tried to polish it out tonight but there not budging.

Snoops: I have also suffered the seagull bombing campaign both on the car roof and on my head 3 weeks ago. The smell made me puke. I managed to get rid of the roof 'stains' by using: (1) Eurochem Nano dry wash spray, (2) Toughseal treatments 1 and 2. Not a mark anymore.

Used a good shampoo on my head.

I just don't know how those gouges happened on my heated rear windscreen. So strange.

Sorry to hear about your mishap.

Thanks
I seem to have what this website classes as type 2 marks and about 12 of them spread round the roof were the deposits of water settled. Never let bottled water go near your paint work
