Buying a mk5 GTi - any advice

Right - Alot more than i wanted to spend,

But

I have chance of buying a 1 owner mk5 GTi

Pluses are:

1 owner from new
FSH & all receipts from new
200 bhp ( :evil: standard so far)
Full leather - heated fronts
Winter pack
Luxury pack


Negs to me any way - it's RED and highish miles

Any advice on buying 1 of these would be much appreciated

I'm looking for one too, but, I've said it before and I'll say it again (after they went pink) NO MORE red cars!  :grin:
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.

This one has been re-called on coil packs (if that's what you mean)

This one has been re-called on coil packs (if that's what you mean)

Check if the steering rack has been replaced too; should have been done under warranty if it was a creaky one

Check the front wheel arches for corrosion - caused by the plastic wheelarch liner rubbing against the inner surface of the wheelarch flange.

Some owners who've experienced this have had problems getting it fixed under the corrosion warranty; VW have cited this as a mechanical problem(!)  :shocked: - link to threads in the mk5 section with pictures of the problem below.

I've a mk5 which is just over 4 years old and I've not had the problem.
