electric fuel pump problem

it has a 1.8t engine conversion i have a wallbro inline fuel pump and it has been fine for 6 months , and all of a sudden it blew a fuse so i replaced it and now it sounds like the pump starts up and then gets a quieter sound , almost like its under high load and then melts the fuses , ive ruled out theres no blocked fuel lines , ive took the fuel feed  off the fuel rail and connected it straight to the return pipe and its working fine , alot more powerful and sounds alot better , so what else can it be ?

Tricky one for me as the only thing that makes your car not a mk1 is the engine. Perhaps find a way to see if there is an issue with injectors, wiring problem preventing them from working maybe?  :undecided:

checked all the wiring it seems fine , the only thing i have noticed is when i take the feed off the rail or the pump it shoots out , so i wasnt sure if the rails can get blocked or maybe the fuel reg

This is why I wondered if there's something up with your injectors?.... can't see the rail being blocked especially if the filter is further back and the fuelling is fine up to the rail,  but then you never know. any way you can check the injectors are actually trying to do anything?  Have you ran it low on fuel at all recently?

i have ran it abit low yes , and it seems to drive fine still boosts etc ,  i dont have a clue how to check the injectors

left it over night till now , and it seems to be pumping fine now

yep , its not the same as it was when i first brought it , but it seems to be like it has been for a few months now
