Removing tree sap/road tar from window
« on: 23 June 2011, 10:20 »
Can anyone recommend anything for removing the most STUBBORN marks from glass? Passenger window is covered in what I think is tree sap but could be road tar and it's stuck on well and truly.

What will remove it? I've heard of claying glass but not sure if it's forceful enough.

Thanks

You can different grades of clay from mild to aggresive but i would try some Autosmart Tardis first, if you dont want to spray it straight onto the window spray it on a microfibre first and wipe over. Bin the mircofibre after though as they really not worth trying to wash after they have tar on them

Thanks mate - will give it a look.

I've just realised there's a thread asking the same thing a few posts down. Should have my morning coffee before posting on here  :lipsrsealed:

Also try very hot soapy water mate, my van gets caked in the stuff as it ends up parked in some quite obscure places! As hot as you can stand really.
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

Have tried that unfortunately mate. It's really welded on as it's been there a while

Not yet unfortunately. I'm waiting until I need to order some cleaning stuff as it works out a tad pricey on postage for one bottle. Found some AG Intensive Tar Remover in the garage - might try that first as it's free.
