Just a quickie about big bumper/small bumper...

Looking at a Mk1 cabriolet...

Has anyone de-arched and de-bumpered the big bumper models?

If so, what's involved?

I'd like to put the chrome style small bumpers on and leave the arches off.

IIRC it's a case of unbolting the old and replacing with new, same mounting points bumper iron etc. de-arching is just a case of unscrewing the kit and praying that the arches are in good condition.. I have rolled without the trim before. 

Wheres this mk1 talk coming from anyway!?  :shocked:

If it's a full Clipper the only problem I can see is that there will be holes in the sills where the skirts are fitted, bumpers won't be a problem.

It's a Karmann?

I had a Mk1 tin top before, always wanted another... but a cabby is more affordable, plus I have something in mind.

is it in sh!te condition then? not sure why you'd want to do this to a proper clipper really... i can understand the desire to go skinny bumpers but not on something like a clipper?

It's not in the best condition, I just thought it'd look a bit tidier...

Are the Karmann's quite sought after then?
