Mechanic in North London.
« on: 21 June 2011, 18:31 »
Hi,

Looking for a mechanic/specialist that actually knows his/her stuff on MK1 Cabrio's! Im in Tottenham (North London) and it seems like nothing is in the area? Don't have any major work to be carried out but would love to know that i could go to someone trustworthy and reliable and mainly local if i ever had any issues.
I need to get my MOT done within the next 2 weeks so any recommendations, help on where to go would be much appreciated!

Thanks

I think you need to speak to a chap called raferackstraw who also lives in Tottering-ham, he'll probably be able to advise you on who to see... he should be on here soon enough as he's about most days

you won't be able to send/receive pm's until you reach 10 posts

What kind of work do you think it needs for its MOT?

Hi,

Not 100% sure to be honest? But i had a service and some bits (new hose, diz cap, therm stat) replaced a couple months ago.
I know what needs to be sorted out but im not sure if these things would result in failing MOT if i didn't sort them out before doing the MOT?
Need to sort suspension, shocks, rocker cover gasket, timing belt and steering alignment. Other than that i think the car is fine.

Thanks

Hey Martz,

Yeah i'v been in contact with Laura from Voodoo before a while back about a springs/shocks set. But just seems a bit far for me. Do they do all normal everyday mechanical work on cars (MOT, service etc)? Might get in contact with them again.

Thanks Martz

To be honest with most of things you have just mentioned I don't think they justify a specialist as such... Most of those can be easily sorted by a reputable garage.
