They know fook all about the cars themselves mind

The 1.6-litre FSI petrol engine is the pick of the range for its blend of performance and economy

Righto

Well, I was surprised once with the 1.6 Mk4, the performance of it for a 1.6 I thought was pretty damn good. So, they're looking at the economical side of things in relation to performance surely?

Its a snail and along with the 1.4 liked to destroy gearboxes..........

A snail compared to what though? Is this a case of 'it's not a GTi' syndrome?

Focus, Astra, even the 1.4 Golf.

Hardly as I've never owned a GTI

Lets be honest not everyone can afford to buy / run or insure a GTI so in real terms a 1.6FSI or TDI's are going to be the bigger sellers.

The 1.6 FSI is noticeably faster and more economical than the 1.4 petrol. A tad slower than the 1.4 TSI but much better on petrol. I wish I had a 1.6 FSI but I can't tax or insure one  :undecided:
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

Most likely both

I would do a similar feature if I was an editor.

Most desirable Golf Ever Made

After intense reviews and testing, we at Ideal Car magazine give an undisputed top marks for the MK3 Golf VR6 for it's jaw dropping looks, practicality, nimbleness, handling, fuel economy and quietness. :afro:

*Cough* *Cough*

Ah now it wasn't a dig. just taking the pee of the review and the last 2 points nailed it. both of which the VR certainly isn't and there's no denying it.

if carlsberg made mk3 vr's they would have made yours.

I don't think the mk3 VR is the most desirable Golf, yes they are good but mk1 and mk2 are the better choices.

A nice early Monza blue mk2 Valver ticks a lot of boxes for me.
