Front Tints

Hey 6-ers

Anyone matched their rear window privacy glass to their front with an aftermarket tint? Anyone got piccies?

Remarkably, my insurance company increased my premium by £8,200 when I queried the cost of the change as they mark it as a modification. Power output is 260bhp versus stock and that's a £10 premium but tint the front windows? Woooooah!

I took a look at what the law will allow and found out what the rear is as I wanted a match. Even the person in the call centre sounded embarrassed.

You'll find that the front glass is on about the limit the law will allow anyway

Any sort of tint on the front is likely to be illegal

The light transmitted through the windscreen must be at least 75%.The front side windows must allow at least 70% of light to be transmitted through them.

Which explains their enthusiasm for charging for an illegal mod. I wasn't able to find figures on the light transmission for the front windows hence the query about whether anyone had done this.

Ray bans are okay , but the ones above are in a differant league when it comes down to the lens
