Dodgy steering and squeaky noise on full lock
« on: 20 June 2011, 21:37 »
Just wondering if anyone can help me out. My gti has always felt a bit weird steering-wise since i bought it, with it feeling very light and feeling quite numb from the wheels. But its started to get worse, and now it feels like im wrestling with the car sometimes to keep it in a straight line, it will often try to steer itself. And this morning when i was leaving for work, i noticed on there was a weird squeaking noise on full lock, could these things be related?
Also i have ROCK HARD suspension with 17's and low profile tyres, ive always put the sh!tty steering down to this, but could it be summat to do with the power steering maybe?
Any advice is appreciated, cheers everyone

worn balljoints as a start. Quite cheap to replace, will make a big difference.

Just cured my squeaking noise tonight sprayed some wd40 into the pump. After I done it I had no power steering but just kept turning it left to right and it came back, the more I done it the quieter it got now there's no sqeak at all quite chuffed
