1.8T cam chain tensioner

Hi,
What does replacing the gasket set (
http://www.ecstuning.com/ES258758/
) on the 1.8t vvt tensioner achieve? I've seen it as a DIY on line but its not clear exactly why you would it....
Is it purely for stopping oil coming out down the side of block or does it improve tensioners ability to hold pressure and prevent chain rattle?
Thanks

I only ask 'cos at a cold start there is a very brief "rattle" sound a bit like this, but not as bad:

It's got me worried...... !
It's not the starter (I've replaced that) and it aint the SAI pump (as that's been repaired).
When warmed up I can also vaguely hear the sound of what I think is the chain running.
