there is no electrics either associated with the PAS

never done a golf or really looked sorry :S did an old escort which a resevoir level indicator just assumed and the £110 isnt rack price its complete kit not having a good day of it :S and if anyone is interested that is the kit price from Volksapart in london se18 weather they have any cant tell ya but it includes everything you need to put in and they might even knock abit off if you give them your old donor rack if its in good shape.

tbph i dont have power steering and it doesnt bother me i can control my car  i think and i dont like power steering for how light it is, i mean dont get me wrong its a twit to park sometimes but rather have the control of feeling the wheels on the road than lighter steering

Lol, I'm sorry this made me chuckle. I remember the big law suits, headline articles etc regarding Vauxhall Corsa GSi's inexplicably crashing. There were conspiracy theories all over - who'd have thought PAS would be to blame 

Having previously owned 2 non-PAS Golf's and now on my 3rd PAS Gti I don't think i could ever go back. I drove my friends Fiat Punto 55 (ssssh!) without PAS and nearly crashed! I blame the lack of power steering!!!!

  I have a '90 driver with pas and it feels all wooly and horrible,like Gambit says if you have decent tyres on the front and the tyre pressure set ok, then i would live without it,you get far more feedback and feel more in control of the car.There isn't much difference between my Gti (non PAS) and the Driver. As for the conversion don't forget the bloody great aluimium bracket that holds the pump on,and if you look you can pick up PAS golfs or Jetts'a on Ebay for aless than £100.Most VW breakers charge more than £100 for a secondhand setup.
